Acai Blueberry Smoothie Bowl

My daughter had a phase last summer where she wanted one of those thick purple smoothie bowls from the smoothie place at the mall every single weekend, and I finally said okay, let me try this at home with the Ninja Creami. So this Acai Blueberry Smoothie Bowl was basically born out of financial self-defense. You freeze the blended base overnight, spin it, and it comes out creamy and scoopable, not slushy, and honestly tastes pretty close to the mall version. Practical tip: blend your almond milk amount down to just two or three tablespoons so the base freezes dense enough to actually hold toppings without turning into purple soup.

Tip: freeze the pint on a level shelf for a full 24 hours. If the first spin looks crumbly, add a splash of milk and run Re-spin.

Ingredients

  • Frozen Acai Puree3.5 oz
  • Frozen Blueberries0.75 cup
  • Greek Yogurt0.5 cup
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk0.5 cup
  • Honey1 tbsp
  • Granolaoptional0.25 cup
  • Fresh Blueberriesoptional0.25 cup
  • Hemp Seedsoptional1 tbsp

Directions

  1. 1Thaw the acai puree just enough to break it into chunks, then combine with the frozen blueberries, yogurt, almond milk, and honey in a bowl and stir until uniform.
  2. 2Pour the mixture into a Creami pint under the max fill line, seal, and freeze flat for 24 hours.
  3. 3Run the SMOOTHIE_BOWL preset. If the result is crumbly, add a small splash of almond milk and Re-spin.
  4. 4Scoop into a bowl and top with granola, fresh blueberries, and hemp seeds.

Tips

  • Freeze your pint completely flat and level in the freezer for a full 24 hours so the Creami can spin evenly and create that smooth, creamy texture instead of a crumbly result.
  • If your bowl comes out too icy or powdery after spinning, add just a tablespoon or two of almond milk and run the Smoothie Bowl program again to get the right consistency.
  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt for the richest, creamiest texture when the Creami spins the frozen pint, as low-fat versions can turn grainy.

Variations

  • Swap the frozen blueberries for frozen strawberries or mixed berries, keeping the same amount and freezing method.
  • Add a tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder to the liquid base before freezing for a chocolate-acai smoothie bowl.
  • Use coconut milk instead of almond milk for a richer, tropical flavor that complements the acai beautifully.

FAQ

Can I use fresh acai instead of frozen puree?
No, you need frozen acai puree specifically because the Creami requires a completely solid base to spin properly. Fresh acai won't freeze solid enough in 24 hours.
Why is my smoothie bowl coming out crumbly and dry?
Your pint may not have frozen solid enough, or your base liquid ratio was too low. Make sure it freezes completely flat for a full 24 hours, and if it still comes out crumbly, add a splash of almond milk and re-spin.
Can I make this lighter or lower in sugar?
Yes, reduce the honey to 1 tablespoon instead of 2, use unsweetened Greek yogurt, and you can add an extra half cup of almond milk to the base before freezing to lighten it up.
How long can I store the frozen pint before using it?
Keep it in the freezer for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container or wrapped tightly, though it's best used within a few days for the freshest taste.
