First sip of this Dreamsicle-Creamsicle Bliss and my daughter said it tasted like the orange push-pops from the ice cream truck, which is the whole point. Orange Crush plus sweetened condensed milk in the Ninja Slushi turns into that creamy orange-and-vanilla thing you remember from summer, not icy, more like a melty creamsicle you can sip. The splash of vanilla extract is what closes the gap between orange soda and actual dreamsicle. Use full-sugar Orange Crush, not diet, or it won't freeze into anything but flavored slush water. Learned that the hard way on batch two.

Ingredients
- Orange Crush Soda56 oz
- Sweetened Condensed Milk7 oz
- Vanilla Extract1 tsp
Makes ~64 oz
Directions
- 1Pour the orange crush soda into a large pitcher slowly to avoid excessive fizzing.
- 2Add half a can (7 oz) of sweetened condensed milk and the vanilla extract.
- 3Whisk gently until the condensed milk is fully dissolved into the orange soda.
- 4Pour the mixture into the Ninja Slushi machine.
- 5Select the SLUSH mode, then manually increase the coldness setting by two bars.
- 6Let the machine run for 40 minutes, then dispense immediately.
Tips
- Pour your liquid base at room temperature straight into the Slushi bowl, no pre-chilling needed. The machine does the freezing work for you over 20-60 minutes.
- If your slush comes out too thick to scoop, run the dispenser tap and let it flow into your cup rather than trying to force a spoon. It'll soften as it pours.
- Fill the bowl to the marked line, not above it. Overfilling slows down the churning and keeps your drink from reaching that perfect slush texture.
Variations
- Swap Orange Crush for Fanta Orange or Sunkist Orange Soda if you like your Dreamsicle a bit more or less sweet. The vanilla and condensed milk stay the same.
- Add a splash of fresh lemon juice to your base before pouring it in. It brightens the orange flavor and cuts through the sweetness without changing the texture.
- Use coconut cream instead of sweetened condensed milk for a tropical take. Use the same amount and mix it in well before pouring.
FAQ
- Can I use regular milk instead of sweetened condensed milk?
- No, regular milk won't work. Sweetened condensed milk is thick and sweet, which is what makes this drink taste like a classic Dreamsicle. Regular milk would freeze into hard ice instead of smooth slush.
- Why is my slush too watery or won't freeze solid?
- Make sure you're filling to the bowl's marked line and that the machine is running the full 20-60 minutes depending on your machine. If it's still watery after an hour, your machine may need servicing or the base ingredients weren't measured correctly.
- How long does a batch of Dreamsicle Bliss stay fresh in the Slushi bowl?
- Once it's done churning, eat it within 2-3 hours for the best texture. If it sits longer, it'll start to separate and harden around the edges.
- Can I make this less sweet for my taste?
- Yes, replace about one-quarter of the Orange Crush with plain sparkling water or club soda, then adjust the vanilla extract slightly down. This lightens the sweetness while keeping the orange and vanilla flavors you want.
