My wife came back from Italy obsessed with Aperol spritzes, so this frozen Aperitivo Orange Spritz was my attempt to recreate the patio vibe in our backyard. Aperol, prosecco, and orange juice through the Ninja Slushi gives you that bittersweet orange slush with a little fizz, and honestly it goes down too easy. First time I served it she closed her eyes and said "that's Florence," which I'm taking as a win. Add the soda water last and gently so you don't kill the bubbles. Spritz season is now year-round at our place. Twenty-one plus.

Ingredients
- Aperol12 oz
- Prosecco24 oz
- Orange Juice8 oz
- Soda Water20 oz
Makes ~64 oz Β· est. 6.2% ABV
Directions
- 1Pre-chill all liquid ingredients in a refrigerator.
- 2Combine the Aperol, orange juice, and soda water in a pitcher, then slowly pour in the Prosecco to preserve its carbonation.
- 3Pour the mixture into the Slushi vessel, close the lid, and select the SPIKED SLUSH setting.
- 4Let the machine run for 30 minutes before dispensing.
Tips
- Pour all ingredients into the Slushi bowl at room temperature; the machine does the chilling work over 20-60 minutes.
- Stir the mixture gently with a wooden spoon every 15-20 minutes as it churns to help break up any icy chunks forming at the edges.
- Stop the machine when the drink reaches soft-serve consistency; it'll continue thickening slightly as you scoop, so don't wait for hard slush.
Variations
- Swap Aperol for Campari to make it more bitter and deeper red, keeping everything else the same.
- Use fresh-squeezed orange juice instead of store-bought for brighter flavor and a slightly less sweet result.
FAQ
- Can I use regular wine instead of Prosecco?
- Yes, dry sparkling wine works fine as a substitute. Avoid very sweet varieties, which will make the final drink too sugary.
- What do I do if it's not freezing solid after an hour?
- Check that your Slushi bowl was pre-chilled for at least 24 hours before use; a cold bowl is essential for the machine to freeze the liquid properly.
- Can I make this less alcoholic?
- Reduce the Aperol by half and add extra orange juice or soda water to keep the proportions balanced; the drink will still slush normally.
- How long can I store the slush once it's ready?
- Keep it in the Slushi bowl on the machine up to 30 minutes; after that it'll start to separate and melt.
