Classic Frozen Margarita

Threw a backyard taco night and this Classic Frozen Margarita in the Ninja Slushi was the first thing to run dry (21+ only, obviously). Blanco tequila, triple sec, fresh lime and a little simple syrup on SPIKED SLUSH gets you that frosty no-blender margarita without a bag of ice and a screaming machine. My neighbor said it was smoother than the Mexican place down the street, then quietly got a refill. It pours slushy and tart, not a watery mess. Real tip: don't cut the simple syrup, the sugar is what keeps the alcohol from freezing into a boozy snowball. Sip responsibly.

- Margarita Saltoptional1 garnish
Makes ~56 oz Β· est. 7.6% ABV
Directions
- 1In a large pitcher, combine the tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup, and water.
- 2Whisk thoroughly until the simple syrup is completely integrated.
- 3Pour the cocktail mix into the Slushi container.
- 4Select the SPIKED SLUSH setting and run for approximately 40 minutes.
- 5While slushing, run a lime wedge around the rim of serving glasses and dip in margarita salt.
- 6Dispense the frozen margarita directly into the salted glasses.
Tips
- Pour your ingredients directly into the Slushi bowl at room temperature, no chilling needed beforehand
- Give it 20-60 minutes to churn and freeze, depending on your machine and how cold your kitchen is
- Use fresh lime juice, not bottled, for a brighter taste that stands out in the final slush
Variations
- Swap the Triple Sec for Cointreau or another orange liqueur for a slightly richer flavor
- Make a Strawberry Margarita by adding 2-3 tablespoons of fresh strawberry puree to your liquid base before pouring
FAQ
- Can I use bottled lime juice instead of fresh?
- You can, but fresh lime juice tastes noticeably better in a margarita. Bottled has a sharper, more metallic edge that becomes more obvious when frozen into slush.
- What if my drink isn't freezing or isn't scoopable after an hour?
- Check that your machine is plugged in and the bowl is sitting flat in the freezing unit. Room temperature ingredients and ambient warmth can add extra time, so give it another 15-20 minutes.
- Can I make this less boozy?
- Yes, reduce the tequila and Triple Sec by half an ounce each and add an extra ounce of water or lime juice to keep the flavor balanced.
- How long can I store the finished slush?
- Once it's done churning, scoop it into a freezer-safe container and cover it tightly. It'll stay good for 2-3 hours before it starts to separate or crystallize.
