Moscow Mule Slush

My wife loves a Moscow Mule, so I turned one into this Moscow Mule Slush in the Ninja Slushi for her birthday (adults only here). Vodka, fresh lime, diet ginger beer and a few dashes of Angostura bitters on SPIKED SLUSH, and it comes out frosty with that exact ginger bite you want. She said it was dangerous how easy it went down, which I took as a win and a warning. The bitters are what make it taste like the copper-mug version instead of just boozy limeade, so don't leave them out. Keep an eye on the count, it sneaks up on you.

Your machine size

Slushi 64 oz (Standard) Β· quantities scaled Γ—1

⚠️ May be too boozy to freeze

Estimated 37.3% ABV is above the ~16% ceiling. Add water or juice to bring it down and restart the freeze.

⚠️ Over the hard-spirit limit

~28.0 oz of 40% spirit exceeds the ~4.7 oz max for this batch size. Dilute or scale down the liquor.

Ingredients

  • Vodka4 oz
  • Lime Juice2 oz
  • Diet Ginger Beer24 oz
  • Angostura Bitters4 dashes

Makes ~34 oz Β· est. 37.3% ABV

Directions

  1. 1Pre-chill the vodka and diet ginger beer in a refrigerator.
  2. 2In a serving pitcher, combine the cold vodka, fresh lime juice, and bitters.
  3. 3Slowly pour in the diet ginger beer, minimizing fizzing to retain liquid volume.
  4. 4Pour the mixture directly into the Ninja Slushi container.
  5. 5Select SPIKED SLUSH and decrease the coldness level by three bars.
  6. 6Allow the machine to run for 30 minutes, then dispense into copper mugs.

Tips

  • Pour your liquid base at room temperature directly into the Slushi bowl, no need to chill it first, the machine does all the work.
  • If your slush seems too thin after 45 minutes, give it another 10-15 minutes of churning; texture depends on your freezer temperature and the Slushi's cooling cycle.
  • Stir the slush with the included spoon before scooping to break up any icy crystals that form on the sides during churning.

Variations

  • Swap diet ginger beer for regular ginger beer if you prefer more sweetness, though it may slush slightly slower due to sugar content.
  • Use fresh lime juice squeezed that day instead of bottled for brighter flavor, and reduce the vodka by 0.5 ounces if you want less alcohol bite.
  • Add a half ounce of fresh ginger syrup or a splash of spiced rum to deepen the ginger flavor without changing the base liquid ratio.

FAQ

Can I use regular ginger beer instead of diet?
Yes, regular ginger beer works fine and tastes great, though the higher sugar content may take a few extra minutes to reach full slush consistency.
What if my slush won't freeze or stays too soupy?
Check that your freezer is set to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or colder, and make sure the Slushi bowl was properly inserted. Some batches take the full 60 minutes depending on your freezer's cooling power.
How long can I keep the slush in the machine before it melts?
Keep it running on the churn cycle for up to 2 hours, though flavor and texture are best within the first 30 minutes of reaching full slush.
Can I make this less boozy?
Absolutely, reduce the vodka to 1 ounce and add an extra 0.5 ounce of lime juice or diet ginger beer to keep the base liquid volume consistent for proper slushing.
