My dad's old-school amaretto sour is what got me messing around with this Frozen Amaretto Sour in the Ninja Slushi. Amaretto, a little bourbon, lemon, and simple syrup come out slushy and smooth, that almond-and-citrus flavor with a sour bite that keeps it from being dessert. He took a sip, raised an eyebrow, and said it was better than the bar, which from him is a medal. Adults only here. The bourbon is what stops it from getting cloying, so don't leave it out, because amaretto alone goes sweet fast.

Ingredients

  • Amaretto Liqueur10 oz
  • Bourbon3 oz
  • Fresh Lemon Juice5 oz
  • Simple Syrup4 oz
  • Cold Water18 oz
  • Maraschino Cherryoptional1 garnish

Makes ~50 oz Β· est. 8.0% ABV

Directions

  1. 1Stir the amaretto, bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and water in a pitcher.
  2. 2Taste for a sweet-tart balance and adjust syrup if needed.
  3. 3Pour the mixture into the Slushi vessel below the fill line.
  4. 4Seal the lid and start the SPIKED SLUSH preset.
  5. 5Let it freeze into a slush, about 36 minutes.
  6. 6Dispense and garnish with a maraschino cherry.
