Took exactly one ingredient to make my brother say "this tastes like the gas station ones, but better." Pour cold full-sugar cola into the Ninja Slushi, run the SLUSH preset, and you get a Classic Cola Slush that's fizzy going in and frozen coming out. The trick nobody tells you: it has to be full-sugar cola. Diet won't freeze because there's no sugar to do the work, and you'll end up with a cup of cold brown disappointment. Let it run the full cycle and it scoops up like soft snow.

Ingredients
- Cold Cola (Full Sugar)48 oz
- Fresh Lime Juiceoptional1 tbsp
- Lime Wedgeoptional1 garnish
Makes ~50 oz
Directions
- 1Let the cola sit open for a minute so a little fizz escapes, then stir gently.
- 2Add the lime juice for a brighter edge if you like.
- 3Pour the cola straight into the Slushi vessel without any ice.
- 4Seal the lid, switch it on, and select the SLUSH preset.
- 5Run it until the drink thickens into a soft slush, about 28 minutes.
- 6Pour into a tall glass and serve with a lime wedge.
Tips
- Pour the cola directly into the Slushi bowl at room temperature, no chilling needed beforehand. The machine does the freezing work.
- Check after 20 minutes by gently tilting the bowl; you'll see when it transitions from liquid to slush consistency, usually between 30-45 minutes total.
- For a firmer slush, wait the full 45-60 minutes; for a drinkable slush, start scooping around 30-35 minutes when it's still pourable.
Variations
- Use diet cola or zero-sugar cola instead of full sugar for the same texture without the extra sweetness.
- Mix cola with a splash of vanilla syrup or cherry syrup before pouring into the machine for a flavored slush.
- Pour cola mixed with a small amount of lime juice for a cola-lime slush that tastes like a grown-up soda.
FAQ
- Can I use cold cola from the fridge instead of room temperature?
- Yes, cold cola works fine and may shorten the freeze time by 5-10 minutes since it's already partially chilled. Either way, just pour it in and let the machine do its job.
- What if my slush never froze after an hour?
- Check that the Slushi bowl is properly seated in the machine and the machine is plugged in and running. If it's running but not freezing, the bowl may need time to chill down initially, or your cola may be too warm; wait another 15 minutes and try again.
- How long can I store the slush once it's made?
- Enjoy it right away while it's fresh and has the best texture. If you leave it sitting, it will gradually melt back into liquid over 30 minutes to an hour depending on room temperature.
- Can I make a lighter, less sweet version?
- Use diet cola or zero-sugar cola, which gives you the same slush texture with half the sugar. You can also add a splash of plain water to the cola before pouring, though this will slightly dilute the cola flavor.
